History of VermontCARES:
Vermont CARES was founded in 1986. Through the tireless work of Vermont CARES staff, HIV + individuals, volunteers and Board of Directors the agency provides services to over 130 Vermonters living with HIV/AIDS and provides over 8,000 individuals with HIV prevention education, skills building and materials. The main office of Vermont CARES is in Burlingtonwith regional offices in St. Johnsbury and Rutland. From these offices and with a budget of approximately $750,000 Vermont CARES reaches 10 out of the 14 Vermontcounties, including the most densely populated and the most rural.
The Missionand Vision of VermontCARES:
The mission of Vermont CARES is to improve the quality of life, create compassionate communities, and prevent the spread of HIV by working with people affected by HIV/AIDS as catalysts for social and individual change. Vermont CARES envisions a world of compassionate neighborhoods where:
<!–[if !supportLists]–>people live free of the stigma, poverty, and oppression associated with the HIV/AIDS epidemic;
<!–[if !supportLists]–>- <!–[endif]–>people of Vermontmake informed decision about HIV prevention, services, and treatment, and
<!–[if !supportLists]–>- <!–[endif]–>there isn’t a need for Vermont CARES.
Great Start at an important resource, VT Cares!!
Once you add in some links and asterisks, maybe a few colors and pix, it won’t seem so downbeat (plain black and white, very unreal)!
I’m looking for info on the great-sounding play “Borders”, and so found you and this work in progress. Thanks for communicating with the wider online community of Vermont - we all care to know more, knowlege is power and caring power will help us all live with this epidemic while slowing it down.
Blessings all! See you at the play and I hope to help you show that this Vermonter cares!
