CDC releases startling revised numbers

On August 3rd the Center for Disease Control announced that by using updated “technology and methodology” they had revised the estimates of new HIV infections in the US for most of the last decade.  The previously estimated new infection rate for the US was about 40,000 people per year, the new data implies that the actual number to be somewhere between 55,000 and 58,500.  According to the data revealed the demographics haven’t changed; men who have sex with men and African Americans still show the highest rate of new infections.  For the full report follow this link: http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/surveillance/incidence.htm
