AIDS Walk 2008

Sunday, September 14 was Vermont CARES’ annual AIDS Walk.  Supporters came from near and far to walk in solidarity with Vermont Cares. Local fitness instructors got the crowd warmed up with Zumba- a workout and dance routine in one.  We heard from local politicians who spoke in support of people living with AIDS in Vermont, the US, and the world.
The walk led through Church Street, up Pearl Street, across Prospect Street, and back down Main Street to make a loop.  We had local Samba band, Sambatucada, lead the way down Church Street with drums, whistles and bells.  People of all ages joined our walk, holding signs and banners, tee shirts and bright red ribbons.  Our board members, staff and friends were all out supporting CARES, even though the weather was less than desirable.
By the end of the walk on such a muggy day, we all needed refreshment.  Fortunately, the Sisters LeMay invited us all back to local hangout Drink for beverages and chatter.  It was a great ending to a truly lovely day.
