Obama likely to reverse some Bush Administration HIV/AIDS related policy

According to Susan Wood, co-chair of Obama’s advisory committee on women’s health, President-elect Barack Obama will likely undo U.S. family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention efforts that long linked funding to anti-abortion and abstinence-only policy.   Wood also reports that, while President Bush’s global health programs (think PEPFAR) have brought more HIV/AIDS treatment to developing nations that ever before, spending requirements linked to abstinence-only programming have hindered family planning and the prevention of sexually transmitted infections worldwide.
